House Candidate Lainey Melnick says Energize US
Group Commits To Pass Energy/Jobs Bill
Today, 10 Democratic candidates joined together to form the Energize US Coaltion. The Energize US Coalition will work for Americans to deliver jobs in a new energy economy, move toward independence from foreign oil and protect our great natural resources like the Gulf of Mexico from irresponsible and risky decisions by foreign companies like BP, who ignore safety procedures and risk the lives and jobs of all Americans.
Lainey Melnick joined this coalition because of the focus on creating jobs. She said, "We are facing an economic crisis in our country. Our priority needs to be creating jobs, bringing manufacturing back to the US, and supporting the innovation of new technologies to regain our position as the global leader of the future."
David Cozad, coalition founder said, “If we’re going to bring this country in for a safe landing that means all of us, working together. Energize US can bring a renewable energy renaissance home with new jobs and a secure energy future ... but only if we make it to Washington. And we’ll need the help of everyone in America to do that and I am very proud to welcome Lainey to the Coalition and look forward to working with her and the others to bring our message to the voters of our districts."
Representative Raul Grijalva (AZ-07, Chairman of the House Subcommittee on National Parks, Forests, Public Lands) echoes Cozad’s sentiments: "When it comes to economic and environmental planning, Energize US is the kick in the pants Congress needs. We have to start thinking bigger about the relationship between jobs, energy, conservation and urban planning. A green jobs agenda is exactly what this country needs to stay competitive in the world economy, and Energize US is committed to making sure Congress takes that need as seriously as it should. I'm proud to be a member, and I encourage my colleagues and candidates around the country to take a serious look at the needs of the people they represent to see just how important the Energize US message is for the country today."
